CASE STUDY

Collaborating to transform recycled plastic from a hospital into sleek, sustainable awards.

The Melt was thrilled to be part of a partnership between Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), Resourceful Living and Muswellbrook Shire Council to bring innovation and sustainability to life.

The company

Resourceful Living is changing consumer’s ideas on recycled plastic.

-

In doing so, they have become Australia’s leader in manufactured recycled plastic furniture.

The challenge

The Melt and Resourceful Living were entrusted with the honour of designing and manufacturing the awards for HNELHD’s Excellence Awards.

-

This gave us the opportunity to showcase the industrial design capabilities and craftsmanship of The Melt Modern Manufacturing Centre in Muswellbrook and manufacturing capabilities of Resourceful Living.

The solution

The Melt and Resourceful Living collaborated to transform recycled plastic from a hospital into sleek, sustainable awards for HNELHD’s well deserving winners.

-

Resourceful Living recycled plastic waste that was 100% sourced from HNELHD.

Meanwhile, The Melt’s Industrial Designer, John Klinkenberg designed the awards and our Technical Specialist, Iain Yule used the latest generation CNC lathe (kindly provided by Muswellbrook Shire Council) to machine the trophy’s aluminium inserts.

The results

This partnership is a shining example of tangible innovation and how The Melt’s in-house capabilities support the ecosystem.

-

It’s what The Melt is all about – bridging the gap between startups and large corporates, championing sustainability and climate consciousness for the broader community.

Kudos to HNELHD, Resourceful Living and Muswellbrook Shire Council for demonstrating the power of collaboration in making a positive impact on our planet!
